Solo exhibition December 2011.
This exhibition came to a place upon the unexpected consequences of my previous exhibition. In October 2011 I was part of the exhibition Reciclalo in an occupied flea market, as a protest for their eviction. In preparation for that exhibition, I spent 2 months in the semi-abandoned flea market creating a huge body of work. Long story short, the riot police showed up on the opening night of the exhibition and nobody was let in.
To try and mitigate my frustration of not being able to show these new works, I quickly organized a second solo-show, to be able to share these new works with my friends, family, and fans.
The contents of this collection were made with dumped materials I found at the abandoned flea market, where I populated these old paintings with new and fantastic characters.
Some of the paintings reflect my case of ‘broken-heart’ at the time and contained allusions to self-improvements and a search to become myself a better and whole person. It worked and over time I’ve become an ongoing better version of myself (still a work in process, though).
